How we make money

Memvers is free to use. We make money through affiliate partnerships. When you click a link on our site to a freelancer platform or tool and sign up or make a purchase, we may earn a commission. This never costs you anything extra. The price you pay is the same whether you come from Memvers or go directly.

Our affiliate relationships

Here are the platforms we currently have affiliate partnerships with and how the commissions work:

  • Fiverr โ€” We earn a commission when you purchase a gig through our links. Fiverr's affiliate program pays a CPA (cost per acquisition) for first-time buyers and a revenue share on subsequent purchases.
  • Upwork โ€” We may earn a referral fee when new freelancers or clients sign up through our links.
  • Toptal โ€” We may earn a referral fee for qualified leads who engage with Toptal through our links. Toptal's referral program is among the most generous in the industry.
  • Software and tools โ€” Some of the DIY tools and AI services we recommend in our guides have affiliate programs. When they do, we may earn a commission if you sign up through our links. These include design tools, AI platforms, hosting providers, and creative software.

Not every link on Memvers is an affiliate link. Many links go to free tools, open-source projects, or platforms where we have no financial relationship. When a link is an affiliate link, we disclose it.

Editorial independence

Affiliate commissions do not influence our recommendations. Full stop. Our reviews and comparisons are based on research, real pricing data, feature analysis, and hands-on testing. We will tell you when a platform is great and when it is not worth your money, regardless of whether we earn a commission from it.

If we recommend the DIY route over hiring a freelancer, we do that even though it means we earn nothing. Some of our most popular guides actively steer readers away from paid services because doing it yourself is genuinely the better option in those cases.

We also cover and recommend platforms where we have no affiliate relationship at all, because leaving them out would make our comparisons less useful.

Pricing accuracy

We work hard to keep pricing information accurate across the site. However, prices on freelancer platforms and software tools change frequently. A gig that costs $50 today might cost $75 next month. Subscription plans get restructured. Free tiers get removed.

All prices shown on Memvers are approximate and based on our most recent research. We update guides regularly, but we cannot guarantee that every price is accurate at the exact moment you read it. Always verify current pricing directly on the platform before making a purchase.

Not professional advice

Nothing on Memvers is professional advice. Our guides are informational content designed to help you weigh your options. They are not a substitute for consulting a qualified professional when the stakes are high.

Specifically:

  • Our cost comparisons are not financial advice
  • Our platform reviews are not endorsements or guarantees of service quality
  • Our DIY guides are educational content, not professional instruction
  • Our opinions on tools and services reflect our research and experience, not certified expertise

No guarantees

We cannot guarantee any specific outcome from following our recommendations, whether you hire a freelancer or take the DIY route. Results depend on many factors outside our control: the specific freelancer you hire, your own skill level, the complexity of your project, market conditions, and plain luck.

When we say a freelancer on Fiverr can deliver a logo for $30, that does not mean every $30 logo will be good. When we say a DIY guide takes 2 hours, your mileage will vary. We give you the best information we can to set realistic expectations, but the outcome is ultimately yours.

Freelancer quality

Memvers does not vet, endorse, or guarantee individual freelancers on any platform. When we link to Fiverr, Upwork, or Toptal, we are linking to the platform, not to a specific person. The quality of work you receive depends on who you choose to hire and how you manage the project. Always check reviews, portfolios, and communicate clearly about deliverables before committing.

FTC compliance

In accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's guidelines on endorsements and testimonials, and similar regulations in other jurisdictions, we disclose our affiliate relationships clearly. Every guide page that contains affiliate links includes a visible disclosure. This page provides comprehensive details about all our affiliate partnerships.

Our promise

We would rather lose a commission than lose your trust. If a tool or platform is bad, we will say so. If you can do something yourself for free, we will show you how. Every guide on Memvers covers both the hire route and the DIY route, because the right answer depends on your situation, not on what earns us money.
